Kids learn business best by doing business.

This is more than a table at an event. It is a welcoming place for young people to explore an idea, make decisions, solve problems, talk with customers, and see what they can accomplish.

Once a month, the club will become a small marketplace where WYC’s young creators can present and sell products they have built or developed.

“If you can dream it, you can build it.”

THE YOUNG FOUNDER PATH

From first idea to first customer.

Every business starts somewhere. The goal is not perfection—it is to try, learn, improve, and have fun building something of your own.

01

Dream

Choose an idea based on something you enjoy making, doing, or improving.

02

Plan

Decide what you will sell, who it is for, what it costs, and how much to charge.

03

Build

Create your product, name your business, and design a display that feels like you.

04

Launch

Run your booth, meet customers, make sales, and learn from the experience.

LEARN BY DOING

Skills that last far beyond market night.

Building a small business helps young people connect creativity, confidence, communication, and financial basics to a real experience.

Creative thinking

Turn an interest or problem into an idea people will value.

Money basics

Understand costs, pricing, sales, profit, saving, and giving back.

Brand building

Choose a name, create a look, and explain what makes a product special.

Communication

Practice a short pitch, answer questions, and speak confidently with customers.

Real responsibility

Prepare inventory, manage a booth, make change, and follow through.

Community

Meet other young creators and learn to support one another’s ideas.

ONE IMPORTANT PRINCIPLE

The kids lead. The grown-ups encourage.

Adults can help brainstorm, prepare, practice, and stay safe. During market night, young founders should be the ones greeting customers, explaining their products, handling sales, and learning what works.

GET READY FOR MARKET NIGHT

A simple first-business checklist.

Young founders can use these questions to start shaping an idea today.

  1. 1 What do I enjoy making or doing?
  2. 2 Who would want to buy it—and why?
  3. 3 What will it cost me to make each one?
  4. 4 What price is fair for me and my customer?
  5. 5 How will my booth and short sales pitch stand out?
